Queens Wharf Stage 1 Finalist

Concept design selected as finalist for the 'Opening the Red Gates' design competition.

1 October 2009 - A concept design by SvB in conjunction with Construkt Architects has been selected as 1 of 5 finalists for Stage 1 of the 'Opening the Red Gates' Design Competition.

The competition, run by Auckland City Council, Auckland Regional Council and the Ministry of Economic Development asked for design proposals for the development of Queens Wharf, Auckland. Proposals were to provide a new Cruise Ship Terminal and a venue to act as the primary Live Site during the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and beyond. Wrapped around these were to be public open space for the benefit of Aucklanders and all New Zealanders.

Stage 1 of the competition was a great success, attracting many high quality entries, and generating wide public interest. The SvB/Construkt entry was selected from 237 concept designs.

SvB and Construkt are now preparing an entry for Stage 2 of the competition.
